Onboard

One to-do list for every new hire

After you confirm a hire, click Start onboarding. The new hire gets an email to set a password and opens one list of everything they need to finish.

Available to businesses in the United States.

How onboarding works

  1. Start onboarding

Choose the first day and the state they'll work in. Onboarding can start right after the hire, or later from the employee's page.

  2. The new hire finishes their list

They fill in the I-9, W-4 and state form online, and choose how they get paid. Some forms must be printed and signed. Items you add are ones they tick off.

  3. Your team gets its part

Pay details go to your payroll owner or your HR admins, and the employer part of the I-9 and tasks like setting up a desk go to the right person.

  4. See who is on track

The New Hires list shows who is on track and what is overdue. Each owner gets a reminder before an item is due, and admins are told if it's overdue.

What your team gets

  • Your own checklist: add items in Settings and choose who owns each one.
  • Social Security and bank numbers are encrypted, and only the last four show on screen.
  • What the new hire enters can go in your payroll file. What fits depends on your payroll company.

Onboarding questions

Does the new hire need an account first?

No. They get a private link by email to set a password, and it works once.

Do I have to use it for every hire?

No. Start it only for the hires you choose.

Is it available in Canada?

Not yet. Onboarding and the government new-hire forms are for businesses in the United States.
